Vanderwagen Navajo Butterfly Concho Belt Buckle
The Vanderwagen Belt Buckle is an oversized, hand-stamped sterling silver butterfly concho belt buckle with a traditional open center, handcrafted by renowned Navajo artisan Lee Charley and inspired by First Phase Navajo Concho belts.
Expertly crafted from heavy gauge Sterling Silver and scaled as a true statement piece. Traditional Navajo stampwork surrounds the classic butterfly silhouette — the oval silver form shaped like spread wings that defined the earliest Concho belts.
The open center honors the original First Phase construction, a traditional slot which the leather strap slides through, just as it did on the first Navajo Concho belts of the 1870s. Finished with a contemporary mirror polish that bridges historic form and modern shine.
The back is fitted with a traditional buckle bar and hook, engineered for secure wear with a leather belt.
This heirloom is handcrafted on the Reservation in Navajoland by fourth-generation Diné silversmith Lee Charley, hallmarked LC and stamped Sterling on the reverse.
Named for Vanderwagen, New Mexico — the shared homelands of both Mr. Charley and the Co-founder of Cowgirls & Indians, Kailey.
